Learn from Past Mistakes in 10 Easy to Follow Steps

Something I've wrote about before was making reference to the way you can leave your life without regrets. It's known that you can not change the past, so why mourn it in the future? But this doesn't mean the mistakes done by you in the past are meant to be put behind. Your past experiences, even if they were bad ones should teach you something every time.

Please take a glance into the past for me. Think about something you think you failed to accomplish or didn't quite work as you expected it to. That thing may prevent you deeply in your mind to accomplish the goals you reach for. It can be something dated way back in your childhood, or it can be as recent as last week and it can still have a negative effect upon you.

No matter what it is, it's time to be honest with yourself and try following a strategy of 10 steps:

Step 1

Start by writing as detailed as you can that certain event. Omitting important facts should not be influenced by certain emotions and being as precise as you can helps a lot.

Step 2

Describe your involvement in the experience. The type of actions you did, were they coming from your own thinking or did someone else force you to act like that?

Step 3

The actions of other people involved must be described, if it is the case. Sincerity is very important and you must remember if there was someone there trying to stop you or was able to change the course of actions.

Step 4

Try to tell the truth about how could you have turned the things into a favorable engaging. It's important to tell the truth as long as even a insignificant think could have changed the entire story.

Step 5

Remember if something different could have been done be the ones present there or the way you could have helped them to change things. Admit it if there were a part in which you could have interfered and you didn't do it.

Step 6

Relate the way you think the thing should have ended.

Step 7

Let's assume you were following all the steps until now. Create a plan in which you describe the desired end for today's incident. Describe the steps you would follow and how would you react towards the others involved in the incident.

Step 8

This exercise should have meant something to you. List down the way it inspired you. Honesty is very important and don't forget to mention even the things you think about as not being important.

Step 9

Think about what you've learned and how can this help you to aim for your ideals and also remember if there's something else to do. It's important for you to determine you strong and weak points and learn how to deal with them.

Step 10

You can also write a plan that can help you to establish the way you will use in real life the things you have learned now. Success in life can only be obtained by following your already made plans and aims.

The ability of learning from mistakes is what helps us move on. Future mustn't be ruined by mistakes in the past.
